Well, Brian, we share a love of philosophy (I majored in philosophy, and got my B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from SUNY-Binghamton), as well as a specific love of Nietzsche. If you ever get a chance, take a look at Truth and Value in Nietzsche, a book by my beloved professor, John T. Wilcox, which argues that, at his core, Nietzsche was a rationalist.

Anyway, glad to see you are so strong on the business ends of things. I’m very curious to see what, exactly, Zaadz is capable of doing.

It has taken me a while to get around the site. It is vast in an extraordinary way! Where I live, at present there is no such thing as DSL unless you have lots of money. So navigating can be slow but, what  you are accomplishing is refreshing :) I know I have so much to learn, and some to share and am really looking forward to being an active part of the change. I have great ideas and not always willing listeners, everyone is so busy trying to live with conveniences, that they do not spend time simply living. I know time in this plane is so brief, I have two children and want to make sure  that I leave this place in a better condition for them to live. I want to ensure that I teach them well so that they continue to simply be good, kind, honest people. I keep saying “I want, I want” but what I want most, is to give.  I'm teaching myself how to play the zaadz game, keeping my brain nimble. I certainly resonate with your intention. My book, The Secret Dowry of Eve, was my first attempt at clarifying transformative information (Genesis, which is much more than it appears to be). I'm now gathering material for a second book. In the meantime I ride my bike everywhere and realize this is an excellent way to change the world. Too bad countries like China are moving away from bikes to cars. The transformed world is cars to bikes. Bike riding is the only activity I know of that does five things: provides exercise, transportation, fun, saves the environment and eliminates parking hassles. Bike on! My other big passion is spreading the word about indrustrial hemp, which really can change the world. Industrial hemp provides so many useful services. Seeds are the most complete vegetable protein possible, with both omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. It's fiber, which is the longest of any plant,can be manufactured into clothes, textiles, paper and a whole host of other products, including canvas and the original Levis. It's cellulose is perfect for methanol production that can be turned into automotive fuel. All this and it decreases carbon 20 times faster than trees. Plus, industrial hemp needs no pesticides or fertilizers and very little water. It literally can save the planet.  21 industrial nations now engage in industrial hemp production. But America still classifies hemps as a level two drug, because of its cousin, marijuana, even though the thc level of industrial hemp is something like .03. 

 Those two activities alone, biking and hemp production, would dramatically change the world.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your inspirational idea. This concept puts a whole new spin on Globalization.

It was such a pleasure to be invited to join this community after my dear friend Chris Carey interviewed you on WRPI’s “R.S.V.P. to Life.” Since we had worked together on WRPI training and numerous other projects, I couldn’t help but see the magical synchronicity that occurs when the heart-mind-body-spirit work as ONE.

I will be moving to San Francisco in September to attend film school for a one-year intensive. I hope I have the opportunity to meet with you when I’m out on the West coast. I wonder if you happen to know of any places available to rent in San Fran? Or a roommate situation.

That is interesting to find out you studied psychology and business. Those are my two top interests along with art. When I was in college I majored in psychology. I hope to finish my degree someday.

It looks as though you're definitely making money at this. I hope that my art will net me a nice income soon. I'm interested in knowing more about your advertising plans. I read something about putting member's faces on billboards. Is that a definite? Also, which magazines are you putting ads and feature stories in currently? I may be interested in being an ambassador for the site but I'll have to see. My plate is pretty full right now. It is more than a full-time job just getting my business to where I want it to go.

Great Bio!

Jesus man, tune down the ego..  I don't like “CEO”…implies too much ownership over what is otherwise a good, open minded, creative website and forum for communication.  People can figure it out, but don't plaster it on the front page for all to see.. A slightly less “welcome to MY creation” opening to zaadz would turn more people on, and less people off. 

Also there is a naivete in open-ended “we can change the world”.  There's billions of people on this small little planet, and a good portion of us want to “change the world” and think that doing so is inherently good, but often (or always?) our “changes” have far reaching actions that invevitably entail negative consequences as well.   George Bush often said that the Iraq war was an opportunity to “change the world”.  He got that right. 

When we talk about “changing the world”, we should at least tag on “for the better.”  That way the intention is at least clear, even if the ego-centric “change” we cause ends up only complicating and confusing the world more than before, and creating more desire for yet more “change”. …

Let us be clear on what exactly the goal is, before we tromp on out the door to affect, mold, and conquer the earth with our ideas  of perfection..

I had a similar reaction at first to Brian’s use of the term “philosopher.” I myself have a B.A. in philosophy, and was taught by people who had Ph.D.s in philosophy from Yale and Harvard, and yet none of them ever called themselves philosophers.

In my mind, a philosopher is someone on the level of Nietzsche. And maybe Ken Wilber was vying for deserving the title up until pretty recently.

But then again, a philosopher is, really, just a lover of wisdom. I believe that Brian is in fact a lover of wisdom, and he’s trying to leverage his own wisdom by building a site that brings together the wisdom of others.

So, does Brian have some ego? No doubt. I certainly do. And as do you, Troy, or you wouldn’t be able to put yourself out so strongly and clearly. I think it’s fair for Brian to have some ego, and to put himself out the way he wants to, just as I think it’s fair for you to criticize it for being a bit too much.

The bottom line is the fruits of the site, and its capabilities. Does it really enable change in the world to happen more easily and readily? Or is it just a bunch of electrons floating through cyberspace? I say, “Let us Find Out.” (And give us chat, please.)

Agreed, however, I think the website would benefit from a more “open” homepage rather than the apparent “look at me and what I've done” letter from “The Philosopher & CEO” himself, complete with link to his much accomplished bio and all.  What he's done is certainly impressive, but having a networking/discussion website open up with so much focus on one person seems to detract from the overall point.  Just my .02…

thanks, Brian, but the truth is that i know a couple of people in the real world who know you and say you’re cool, so i’m going to go with that for now!

plus, in interactions with you on this site – which is all i really have to go on – you actually don’t, in real time, manifest a whole lot of dysfunctional ego; we all have ego, and actually, without having a strong ego, we can’t function in the world and contribute and receive; so, you obviously have a very strong ego in a certain sense, but in the dysfunctional sense, in the narcisssistic self-absorbed can-hear-anyone-else sense, i’m pretty confident that you don’t have a lot of ego…

but i may be flattering myself to think i can make such a judgment, obviously a sign of my own ego (not to mention my own narcissism, but that comes more across in my pix ;-)…)

I have been on this site for less than 30 minutes but im getting the feeling already that the friends I will make here will fit into the top 10 all time life friends.

In 'real' life, I have amazing family, friends and colleagues -i think the world of them and their contribution to other human beings. But what a delight to find so many more like them on zaadz! Making friends with them and sharing in their wisdom, given so generously, is a delight.

And your business plan is plain whacky and wonderful. While all the other networking sites are so busy 'making it', zaadz floats at an awesome distance from the world of survival, struggle and  self centeredness. Please don't change anything. You've created a wonderful world for conscious living.

And quite the beautiful family you do have, Praveer. But the question remains: what can Zaadz do that is actually different, that actually enables its various members to “do something with” or “work with” or “become part of the *real* lives of* other Zaadz members?

What’s the rason d’ etre? Where’s the psycho-spiritual beef? How does the actual utility of Zaadz manifest?

To directly answer you, Brian:

I've gotten some nice business referrals from Zaadz, and more importantly, I've made three or four very valuable long-term friendships.

Plus, I'm having fun, and of all the sites that are out there, this is the one I'm still coming to the most.

Understand: I'm not complaining. I like Zaadz a lot, and am grateful for everything you have done.

But, also, I *do* want to push you. I want more. I want the ability to exchange knowledge about what works and what's real in a way that was never before possible and that is particularly enabled by the web. Admittedly, this will take time, but that's the real expontential growth and learning curve I want to be on and I want Zaadz to help provide for me and many others.

Human potential is almost limitless, as our our collective problems. The only way to solve the latter is to unleash the former. And figuring out how to do that… ain't easy.

So, this is a great, wonderful, amazing, empowering start. Now, let's accelerate!
